Craig Iseli
I live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and for more than thirty years photography has been a way for me to spend time in wild places. Over time, my work has grown out of personal experience more than assignment — shaped by time in the field, repeated visits, and long stretches of observation.
I have always approached wildlife photography ethically, with the understanding that I am a visitor in these places and that the animals I encounter are not unaware of my presence. Many of my photographs come from moments of shared curiosity — brief intersections where observation moves in both directions.
Over the years, I have traveled widely and spent time photographing wildlife in the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as Africa, Asia, and South America, with a particular focus in recent years on northern regions of Alaska, Canada, and British Columbia.
Spending time on the wild edge has gradually shaped how I see the world. The effort is less about producing images and more about understanding relationships — between animals and landscape, hardship, resilience, and our shared place within the larger ecological systems.
This site is an invitation to look more closely and to reflect on lives that continue alongside our own.
